After losing to Norwich City four goals to one at halftime at Carrow Road, Rotherham United suffered their second five-nil defeat of the week.

With Millers’ ‘keeper Viktor Johansson having saved from Gabriel Sara in the first minute of play, City entered the first half focused solely on scoring. Five minutes in, a low pass in from Sam McCallum sailed across goal, and Marcelino Nunez’s long-range attempt was stopped. On the opposite side, the Millers broke through through Christ Tiehi, who connected with big forward Tom Eaves, who lofted the ball high for Charlie Wyke, but City ‘keeper Angus Gunn easily collected it. Norwich was launching a charge.and the ball was headed towards a player in a yellow shirt on the back post, but Hakeem Odoffin was there to clear it, reaching Peter Kioso, who then sent it out for a throw-in for City. After thirteen minutes, Sara headed the ball straight down the middle and into the net after Jack Stacey’s cross into the box deflected Cameron Humphreys. This gave the home team the lead. Ollie Rathbone, who was discovered by Tiehi, shot up the pitch and attempted to play Tom Eaves in, but it was too long.and advanced for a penalty kick. Though it appeared easier to score, he sent the ball past the post in acres of room, and Sara might have scored another goal. However, City did earn a second in the twenty-first minute when Jacob Sorensen’s head was discovered after a corner, bringing the score two goals to one. Morrison threw a throw-in that Eaves won for the visitors into the box, but referee Charles Breakspear called a foul and gave the home team a free kick. On the opposite side, Sargent found himself in a wonderful position with the ball, but Odoffin made a fantastic tackle to prevent him from taking a shot. A few minutes later, City led three goals. up after Borja Sainz somehow caught the ball outside the goal, veered inside, and let it fly, landing in the upper corner. Together, Sainz and Sargent produced a fine stop from Johansson, and then Nunez’s attempt went wide. After some nice play by Tiehi, Seb Revan, and Clucas, the Millers earned their first corner on thirty-six minutes. However, the Norwich defence cleared the area for Sainz, who attempted another long-range shot but missed. Odoffin performed admirably to block a strike from Sargent, but as the scoreboard rose for four more

minutes Halftime saw Norwich up four goals to one after a cross from Stacey found Sargent, who raced into the area and slotted in from close range.

Charlie Wyke was replaced by Andy Rinomhota for the Millers at the beginning of the second half, while Danny Batth took Ben Gibson’s place for the Canaries. After Viktor Johansson produced a nice save from Josh Sargent, the ball fell to Gabriel Sara on the edge of the box, and his powerful drive found the back of the net, making it five goals to none for City just two minutes into the half. City sent a Sydney vehicle.

Hooijdonk in lieu of Josh Sargent and Kenny McLean was replaced by Christian Fassnacht. The Millers had a few corners and free-kicks that ended in nothing before Hakeem Odoffin stopped a van Hooijdonk effort and then stopped another one against Fassnacht. Marcelino Nunez then had a chance, but he missed it from the edge of the box. Arvin Appiah, Sam Nombe, and former Canary Jordan Hugill replaced Sean Morrison, Ollie Rathbone, and Tom Eaves in three changes for the Millers, while Marcelino Nunez made way for Laim Gibbs for the hosts. An error committed by Hugill

After Seb Revan observed that the Millers had a free kick, Jacob Sorensen realised that Hugill was heading over. Gibbs received the first yellow of the match after he tackled Appiah during a free-kick that ended in nothing. Another change for the hosts saw Jamie Lindsay onto the pitch for Rotherham, with Sam Clucas going the opposite way, and Kenneth Aboh replace Ashley Barnes. Working effectively together, Revan and Appiah saw the latter’s shot stopped before Nombe, and Peter Kioso gained free kicks that resulted in nothing.

The majority of Millers supporters, in my opinion, are hoping that this season ends soon so that we may begin planning for the next one. Aside from that, we’re leaking goals, struggling to get forward, and the midfield appears to have vanished completely.

Next weekend, Huddersfield Town will be the guests at New York Stadium. Is that the game that ultimately determines our destiny?
