Huddersfield Town owner Kevin Nagle on what Breitenreiter said to him after talks following draw at Rotherham United

Owner of HUDDERSFIELD TOWN, Kevin Nagle, says he has spoken with head coach Andre Breitenreiter after the Terriers’ disappointing Championship draw against bottom-of-the-table Yorkshire rivals over the weekend. The German was criticised by some Terriers fans for not substituting more players.

When Sorba Thomas was sent off for two bookings in the 58th minute of Town’s match against the Millers—whose relegation is anticipated to be confirmed soon after the international break—the team was reduced to 10 men.Breitenreiter was practical with his substitute choices even though his team was playing against a team that was on a terrible nine-match losing league streak, had not won in the league since Boxing Day, and had only three wins this season.

Moving Forward Against the cries of a section of the sizable away crowd that went, “Andre, where are the subs?” towards the end of a tense afternoon that ended 0-0 and gave the League One-bound Millers their first tangible result since January 20, Danny Ward and Josh Koroma remained on the bench.

During Sunday’s customary post-game debrief, Nagle spoke with Breitenreiter, who was named the team’s permanent head coach last month. The Town owner appreciated the former Schalke and Hoffenheim manager’s opinions, especially in the face of criticism from the supporters.”The bottom line is we’re fierce fans, but I want to make sure that everyone knows that after it’s all over, we decompress a little bit and think about it and are emotional about it,” Nagle said in his most recent video diary on ‘X’. Nagle’s team is currently on goal difference, in the final relegation position.

“Usually, I speak with the manager and Andre the following day.

“The conversations flow smoothly. We pose a lot of important queries. I won’t put him to the test directly. But, for instance, the first thing I asked him was, “Now that the game has passed, do you feel like you handled it differently?”

He provided a pretty strong response, in my opinion, and I can see that he is knowledgeable about the sport. “I wouldn’t change anything,” he declared. That is not the time (in the game) for you to start questioning yourself.

“He knows that many people have questioned him about why he did not replace more individuals. In summary, he believed that Huddersfield was playing exceptionally well, which is true, and that you need to play a little bit more defensively (in a 10 vs 11 match).

“I think I am a risk-taker more than anything else, but I really appreciate that.

He claimed that the players were playing cohesively and with strength, and he sees things that I do not. We were hoping to get lucky and win the game.

“I felt really at ease with that response. I believe that even though some had harsh criticism, Andre’s response would have made them feel quite at ease.”
