Championship club to scout 42-goal Aston Villa star as Hearts and Rotherham watch on

It’s possible that a former striker for Aston Villa is returning to the professional ranks.
A rumour suggests that former Aston Villa striker Brad Young may be returning to English football.

Young, who attended Villa’s academy from 2017 to 2023, is currently representing Welsh champions The New Saints in the UEFA Champions League tonight evening. In the first qualifying round, the Oswestry team takes against the Montenegrin champions FK Decic at Park Hall in an attempt to advance alongside Villa to the group stages.

But, scouts from Bristol City are reportedly present, so Young won’t just have TNS supporters cheering him on, according to Football Insider. Along with’several’ other teams, the Robins are reportedly showing interest in Young.

It was reported in February that Hearts, Augsburg of Germany, and Rotherham United had been monitoring Young. The 21-year-old would demand a transfer fee should any team wish to pursue their interest because they have a contract with TNS that expires in the summer of 2025.

Young’s outstanding goal-scoring performances earned him the title of Young Player of the Year in the Welsh premier league the previous season. In addition to scoring seven goals in the Welsh Cup, the SPFL Trust Trophy, and the Nathaniel MG Cup, he scored 22 goals in 25 league appearances.

Young played in just one senior match for Villa’s first team, which came in the 2020–21 FA Cup when the team was compelled to play their academy against Liverpool. He played 29 minutes as a substitute in a 4-1 loss for the youthful Villains against a Liverpool team that featured players like Jordan Henderson, Sadio Mane, and Mohamed Salah.

He was fairly prolific for the academy team, netting 42 goals in 74 games for the under-18 and under-21s teams. Following his exit from Villa Park last summer, he had a trial with Exeter City, but opted to play for TNS.
