The manager of Rotherham United, Leam Richardson, has not yet announced the wide player Shane Ferguson’s return date due to an injury setback.

Ferguson, a player for Northern Ireland, has missed a large portion of the season with Rotherham United. He was forced to leave the crushing against Coventry City early on when he returned to Championship action in February.

The 32-year-old appropriately missed Norwich City’s crushing loss as well. Ferguson was sidelined for nine months before to this latest sabbatical, and it appears he may miss more time.

Leam Richardson, the manager of the Millers, said in an interview with the Rotherham Advertiser that Ferguson will miss time due to an injury. He said that the hernia issue that had kept him out was the new concern, although at this early point, there is no projected return date.

It will take time to determine the outcome of this scheduled expert visit, but if this latest setback prevents Ferguson from playing for Rotherham United for a lengthy period of time, then it may mean that his time with the club is over.

At the end of the season, the seasoned left-hander’s contract with the Millers expires. Considering his history of injuries and restricted playing time, some people might be shocked if he receives an extension from the club.

However, it will be hoped that Ferguson can return to the scene as soon as possible. He has already shown himself to be a valuable asset in the Championship and League One, whether playing as a winger, full-back, or wing-back.

In 76 games for Rotherham United, he has tallied four goals and ten assists. However, it’s unclear if he will have the opportunity to increase that sum.
