We are happy to announce that goalie Joe Cracknell has joined us after leaving Scarborough Athletic.
According to Rachel O’Connor, Guiseley AFC has bolstered their roster for the upcoming season with the addition of seasoned custodian Joe Cracknell.
After being abruptly replaced by Ryan Whitley in the Scarborough goal last season, former Bradford City star Cracknell is hoping to regain his position as the team’s top player after joining from Scarborough Athletic.
The player stated, “It was unexpected; I had just finished my 100th game for Scarborough and was named Man of the Match when they substituted me. I am excited to demonstrate my abilities, and I am grateful that Guiseley has granted me this chance.
“I met with Danny Boshell, Russ O’Neill, and Mark Bower, and they outlined their goals for the club,” he continued. For me, it was a great new challenge and an extremely exciting chance. I am eager to begin and contribute positively to the outstanding team they are putting together.
As a young player, Cracknell joined his hometown team Hull City, where he played for five years until he was twenty. After that, he relocated to Bradford City, where he spent two years. He participated in a preseason friendly for City at Guiseley during that period.
He also recalls his five years as Harrogate Town’s custodian playing against Guiseley.
Cracknell joined Scarborough Athletic after departing Harrogate, a club from Hull City, where he spent the entire 2022–2023 season as a No. 1 player, on loan.
He was the first pick for the 2023–24 season and continued to play for the first team until November.
He is going to seize this fresh opportunity with both hands. When training begins on June 29, he is eager to get to know his new teammates.
“I am really excited about it and am looking forward to having a good pre-season with some good friendlies scheduled.” As a major component of non-league football, I am also excited to meet the supporters, Cracknell added.
“We love Crackers and really wanted him to stay and compete for the No. 1 jersey, but we fully understand his desire to play regular football,” Scarborough’s manager, Jono Greening, stated in response to Cracknell’s decision to leave the team.
Furthermore confirmed are the departures of Kallan Murphy and Leigh Whelan from the team due to their decision to decline our offer of a new contract. With our best wishes for their future, the Irish striker and midfielder have both signed with Vanarama National League North club Marine future profession.
