A formidable 16 members of the Scarborough Athletic Club took part in the yearly Cleveland Way Relay, which was a 110-mile course from Filey to Helmsley.
Alfie Carr, Andrew Davies, Pat Messruther, Matt Jones, Ian Spence, Julia Robinson, Matt Heaton, Carol Sherwood, Rhona Marshall, Chris Waite, Paul Butler, Andrew Kaufman, Ian Beaver, Paul Lawton, and Nikki Carr Walls, the Scarborough club’s team captain, led the SAC team in the starting lineup.
Following eighteen teams in a fiercely competitive race, the Scarborough squad came in second, just behind the Whitby and Loftus Athletic Club.
On Saturday morning, twenty-two members of the club participated in the most recent parkrun at North Yorkshire Water Park in Wykeham.
Rob Powell was the first home club finisher, placing eighth out of 179 runners overall and first among the Over-50 with a personal best.
First over-45 and third overall out of 77, Emma Simmons led the club’s female competitors. She also set a personal best.

At the last Sewerby parkrun, eleven club members participated, which is above usual.
David Field finished first for the team, placing third in the Over-60 category and 48th overall out of 234.
Heading the club’s female division, Clare O’Neil finished 17th out of 108 overall and seventh in Over-45.

Members of the Scarborough Athletic Club Aaron Padgham finished 14th out of 79 participants in the Middleton Leeds parkrun, Rob Grainger finished 14th in the Over-50 division at the Middlesbrough parkrun, and Hilary Casey finished second in the Over-60 division at the Shildon parkrun.
Victoria O’Neil, an Over-45 athlete from SAC, placed fourth at the Skipton parkrun on Saturday morning. Matthew Rutt finished 74th out of 526 participants at the Heslington York parkrun Lisa Bourne placed 10th overall (out of127), second among Over-50, while Chris Bourne of AC finished 43rd overall (out of149), first among Over-55.
