tA lady who was reportedly six months pregnant was seriously hurt when her automobile lost control and crashed in front of a Scarborough long-term care facility.

Officers with the Toronto Police Service (TPS) were alerted to the collision in the vicinity of Ellesmere Road and Neilson Road on Tuesday, shortly after 6:30 a.m.

According to TPS, the driver lost control, causing the car to flip over and smash right in front of the Seven Oaks Long-Term Care Home, which is located at 9 Neilson Road.

A 40-year-old woman was taken to a trauma centre by Toronto Paramedic Services with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to 680News Radio. The woman was freed from her car after it overturned on its side, according to Toronto Fire, who informed CityNews that officials helped with the emergency response.

It was revealed by 680News Radio that the woman is expecting. A CT scan was being performed as a precaution, and the unborn child is likely to be alright.

It was verified by a City of Toronto representative to CityNews that the woman works at the long-term care facility.

“While our staff member and their family receive medical attention, our thoughts are with them.”

The long-term care facility’s facade has some minor damage, but no residents were hurt.
