An altruistic teenager has declined the opportunity to witness Steve Clarke’s team’s live Euro 2024 campaign in order to support underprivileged kids.

Mitchell Carling was able to obtain a ticket for the highly anticipated opening match of the summer tournament, which will take place at Munich’s Allianz Arena between Germany and Scotland.

However, in an effort to raise thousands, the generous 16-year-old from Dundee has chosen to hold a raffle in support of JDRF and Caudwell Children, two children’s charities.

He managed to obtain two tickets to the Europa League Final in 2022 and raised over £46,000 for charity by holding a raffle of the Rangers vs. Eintracht Frankfurt briefs.

With his family at his side, he will watch the match on Scottish land rather than travelling to Germany with the Tartan Army. He thinks that by choosing to miss another much awaited match, others will gain.

“I never imagined I’d raise almost £50,000 for charity when I decided to raffle the Europa League Final tickets, even though I knew the tickets were in demand,” the guy said in his explanation.

I’ve always wanted to do more since that draw, and I felt I could do more when I was able to secure tickets to the Euro 2024 tournament’s opening match.

“Our family is close to the two charity I have chosen to support. We support JDRF and Caudwell Children because we have witnessed their work and the number of individuals they assist, and because they helped my younger sister when she was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.

“The winner will have an incredible time in Germany, I’ll be cheering on the team with my family, hopefully with the knowledge that I’ve done some good by raising a lot of money for great charities.”
