Supporters from Scotland who were dressed to watch their nation compete at Euro 2024 were taken aback to see the names of England players on the back of their new uniforms.

The fake Scotland jerseys, which mimic the official Adidas kit, were allegedly bought online from a Chinese source at a discounted price of £15 as opposed to the £75 needed to purchase the authentic item. However, Mason Mount and Jude Bellingham, two Three Lions stars, had namesets on the back of the strips, thus Tartan Army fans who purchased the kits were in for a surprise.

Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter) user Scotland’s Coefficient posted a picture of the fake kits on Wednesday along with the following caption: “Mate just sent me these pictures – the dangers of buying fake tops. Apparently several people have been getting a very English surprise when they open their £15 parcel from China.”

Following their participation in the postponed EURO 2020 finals in the summer of 2021, Steve Clarke’s team is making their second appearance in the European Championships in three years. But Scotland’s goal is to become the first squad in the nation’s history to advance past the group stages of a major tournament.

The Scots kick off the tournament against hosts Germany on Friday June 14, before taking on Switzerland on June 19 and Hungary on June 23 in their other two fixtures in Group A. Before they jet off to the finals, Clarke’s men also have two pre-tournament friendlies against Gibraltar and Finland to allow the Scotland boss to make a final decision on the players that will be on the plane to Germany.
