Following the stabbing deaths of two adolescents in a Sheffield park on Friday night (May 3), a fourth individual has been taken into custody.

At 6:49 p.m. on Friday, police were dispatched to Mortomley Park in the city’s High Green neighbourhood in response to complaints of a disturbance involving a number of individuals.

Due to suspicions of stabbing wounds, two lads, ages 16 and 17, were admitted to the hospital. According to a South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman, they are still in the hospital and in a stable condition.

The two lads were taken into custody on charges of affray, possessing a bladed object, and wounding with the intent to cause great bodily damage. The 17-year-old was taken into custody once more on suspicion of having class B narcotics possession. A 22-year-old woman was taken into custody on suspicion of affray, possessing a bladed object, and wounding with the intent to cause great bodily damage. She was later given a bail.

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily injury, possessing a bladed article, and engaging in affray, according to an update given by police today (Sunday, May 5). He was also granted bail.

Yesterday, May 4, a scene was set up at the park while the detectives worked, but it has since been taken down. “Anyone who has any information which could assist our ongoing investigation is encouraged to get in touch,” a South Yorkshire Police statement continued.
