Blades reach with £3m transfer breakthrough, medical underway

Harrison Burrows, who will be leaving Peterborough United for £3 million, is scheduled to have his physical with Sheffield United.

That’s what Sky Sports’ Mark McAdam says. Preston North End had long been interested in Burrows, and at different times, Birmingham City, Portsmouth, and Leeds United were also rumoured to be considering him.

Journalist Alan Nixon revealed on his Patreon on Tuesday that the Blades and the Posh were almost finalising an agreement to pay up to £3 million for Burrows. After the team from South Yorkshire played Harrogate Town in their preseason, Chris Wilder announced that the pursuit was almost over.

Nixon claims that Leeds’ acquisition of Jayden Bogle has made financial space available for the Burrows trade. Notwithstanding the continuing takeover drama involving Sheffield United, Burrows will be the most recent signing to be finalised.

Burrows is anticipated to be the team’s sixth summer acquisition. Along with him at Bramall Lane are fellow newcomers Callum O’Hare, Kieffer Moore, Jamie Shackleton, and Sam McCallum; all but Burrows and Moore are free agents.

The latest on Harrison Burrows’ future

Although it has been widely reported that the Blades are interested in the teenage full-back, Wilder clarified in an interview with BBC Sport’s Football Heaven that the transfer is almost finalised.

According to Nixon’s story, Leeds United expressed late interest, but TBR Football asserted that the Blades had overcome Preston North End’s late interest. Despite conflicting rumours about Leeds’s intentions:

Now, Sky Sports’ Mark McAdam has the latest regarding a deal for Burrows, with the Peterborough player undergoing his medical with Sheffield United ahead of a £3 million move to South Yorkshire.

Burrows will rank among the top full-backs or wing-backs in the second tier in terms of sheer output and crossing ability, and his acquisition will prove to be a wise long-term investment.

Along with O’Hare and Moore, McCallum and Burrows provide Wilder exceptional strength in depth on that flank. He is their most recent striking addition.

Burrows will provide the Blades with a lot of offensive threat; his exact career potential is unknown, but at just £3 million, he seems like a great deal, as McAdam explains.

They have lost a lot of talent and experience this summer along the spine of the team, so if they want to challenge the top of the division, they will need to make further acquisitions their team, but Burrows is yet another step in the right direction.
