Chris Wilder, who was previously worried that striker Daniel Jebbison might leave Sheffield United this summer, has expressed optimism about the team’s chances of signing Jebbison to a new contract after recently finalising Oli Arblaster’s contract extension.

The England youth international is currently in talks with the club about extending his contract. He will become a free agent at the end of the current campaign.

Early in the current season, when Paul Heckingbottom was Chris Wilder’s predecessor, negotiations began over Jebbison’s contract renewal. Since his elevation, Jebbison has experienced setbacks as a result of a combination of personal health issues and injuries.

At first, a few Bramall Lane executives had come to terms with the possibility that Jebbison would leave this summer. But, after speaking with the striker and his family earlier this year, Chris Wilder thought he had made progress.

Regarding Jebbison’s new contract, Wilder stated recently in an interview: “We’re all enthusiastic. We’re in talks with the chief executive right now. We held a Zoom meeting last week with the board, the owners, and Steve [Bettis, CEO]. Thus, it is still going on.

The importance of the Shirecliffe academy inside the Sheffield United structure is highlighted by recent commitments from bright young players like Will Osula, Andre Brooks, Louie Marsh, and Arblaster. This is true regardless of the level in which the Blades play next season.

The youngster, his parents, and his agent all have the mindset that he views Sheffield United as his future home, therefore we’re optimistic and confident,” the manager continued.

After making his breakthrough, Jebbison—who currently holds the record for being the youngest player in Premier League history to score on his complete debut—attracted immediate attention. Soon after his incredible debut, Everton attempted to sign him for £5 million, but Liverpool, their city rivals, also showed interest in the 20-year-old forward who was born in Canada.
