Galatasaray eyeing summer deal for Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof

Manchester United rarely takes the easy route, and on Wednesday at Old Trafford against Sheffield United, the bottom team in the Premier League, that was once again the case.

The Blades led twice, but the hosts rallied behind a strong showing from captain Bruno Fernandes, and they ultimately prevailed 4–2.

According to accounts from The Peoples Person, the squad adopted a far more possession-based strategy as opposed to Erik ten Hag’s typical chaos ball, which may have been encouraged by new technical director Jason Wilcox.

How long this continues will be interesting to watch. The Red Devils made 722 passes and controlled 72% of the ball in possession, but errors were still made, which allowed Chris Team Wilder will score twice.

Defensive problems persist
The defence appeared to be patched together, with Harry Maguire and defensive midfielder Casemiro combining at the back after academy standout Willy Kambwala and the other four senior center-backs were all injured.

In their last two games, the pair has given up five goals: twice against Sheffield United and three times against Championship team Coventry.

According to Ten Hag’s most recent injury report, none of the players will be able to play against Burnley, and injuries have ravaged the backline as a whole this season.

The 20-time English league champions have allowed in the second-most goals in the Champions League group stages and have conceded three or more goals 14 times this season, so their constant changing hasn’t helped the club settle.

With the contracts of Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans expiring with Maguire and Victor Lindelof being linked to departures, it is evident that a revamp at the back is necessary.

Galatasaray is interested in a summer transfer for the Swede, who cost United €35 million in 2017, according to Turkish publication Aspor. Christian Eriksen, a midfielder, has recently been linked to the Turkish league leaders.

Due to his history of injuries, Lindelof is beginning to lose out on opportunities. He missed eight games the previous season in addition to 17 this one.

This season, he has been inconsistent, which hasn’t been made any easier by the fact that the growing injury issue has occasionally forced him to play as an auxiliary left-back.

Gala glancing at Lindelof
Manchester United player Victor Lindelöf has been added to Galatasaray’s list of transfers. At the conclusion of the season, the yellow-red team hopes to have the Swedish football player on their roster.

During his seven years with the team, the 29-year-old has been a dependable performer but never a world-class one, and with the club in need of cash, he might be let go.

With a market worth of €15 million right now, INEOS would prefer to profit more from the player’s sale. The United team exercised its one-year extension option, meaning the captain of the Swedish national team’s contract will expire in 2025.

Many may argue that Maguire should go before the Swede, but in the end, the decision will be made by the new backroom team at INEOS.
