Blades learn price-tag of attacker while Owls to sign injury prone Blades player review

The previous season saw very few acquisitions for Sheffield United that truly paid off. With a combined 17 Premier League goals, Ben Brereton-Diaz and Gustavo Hamer are likely the two additions that most supporters would concur were the most successful.

Supporters were once again admonished in the closing months of the season to “never fall in love with a loan player,” as they relished the vitality and pace the Chilean international brought to the Blades. However, because the Villarreal loanee performed well in the Premier League’s poorest team last season, fans understood they would have to enjoy it while it lasted.

Following the expiration of his Blackburn Rovers contract, the 25-year-old was signed by Villarreal on a free transfer last summer. He is returning to Spain this summer with the intention of breaking into the starting eleven.

El Periodico Mediterraneo, a Spanish local newspaper, reports that Villarreal is pleased to let go of the devoted Nottingham Forest follower this summer. It is stated that Offers between seven million and ten million euros, or roughly £5.9 million to £8.5 million, will be considered by the Yellow Submarine.

Based on Brereton-Diaz’s recent Premier League performances, it seems like someone will be able to get an impact player for a very low cost.

Sheffield Wednesday in advanced talks to sign recently released Sheffield United player Max Lowe

The Star is claiming that following his release by the Blades this month, 27-year-old Max Lowe is in advanced talks to join Sheffield on Wednesday. At the end of the week, a medical examination is scheduled.

Due to the former Derby County player’s early promise, Sheffield United made a double-taker trade for both him and Jayden Bogle, his Rams colleague. According to Sky Sports, the two would sign in the 2020–21 summer transfer window for a package deal worth up to £15 million, with the right-back supposedly costing more than the other.

Unfortunately, Lowe has had numerous injury setbacks over the years that have prevented him from ever really being able to hold down his spot in the matchday squad. After playing just 11 games for United in his first season, he was loaned to Nottingham Forest the next season, where he played in 20 Championship games, scoring four goals and dishing out four assists before he suffered a groyne injury. According to Transfermarkt, Lowe would miss a total of 23 league games for the Reds as a result of the injury.

The Blades chose to keep him in the lineup for the 2022–2023 season after his fruitful but injury-plagued tenure at Forest. He did contribute to Sheffield United’s promotion, although it was yet another season marred by setbacks. Under Paul Heckingbottom, the former Derby player made 26 appearances in the Championship, contributing five assists and one goal.

After Lowe hurt his ankle on a sprinkler head a few weeks into the season, the Blades had few choices at left wingback for the first few months of the recently concluded Premier League season. It was hardly shocking that United declined to offer him a new deal given that he missed 25 Premier League games the previous season.
