Danny Rohl, who had been in Germany earlier in the month covering Euro 2024 for ITV, has had an intense transfer window thus far with Sheffield Wednesday, bringing in seven new players.
The organisation surrounding Hillsborough is a true contrast to what we seen during the summer before Xisco Munoz’s 2023–24 Championship season, which is a credit to Rohl and Dejphon Chansiri for seeing their targets early.
Prominent figures have descended upon S6, such as Yan Valery, who will reunite with the German manager after working together at Premier League Southampton, when Rohl was assistant manager.
Wide players were also expected to provide a goal guarantee, and Rohl made a smart choice in signing Olaf Kobacki, a Polish winger who scored 15 goals in the previous season in the Polish second division.
Sheffield Wednesday is now keeping an eye on a few more wingers, one of whom is supposedly “close to completion’.
Deal for Rangers’ Scott Wright on Sheffield Wednesday is “almost complete.”
According to The Fourth Official, a deal involving Rangers winger Scott Wright is “close to completion” for Sheffield Wednesday.
In the 2023–24 Scottish Premiership season, the 26-year-old made 23 appearances for Rangers and scored twice in a season in which he was mostly used as a substitute.
The former Scottish youth player has played football in Europe, most notably with Rangers in the Champions League, where he saw action against major leagues Liverpool, Napoli, and Ajax.
Mallik Wilks, a former winger for Barnsley and Hull City, is also still on the roster, although after playing very little last season, he probably is surplus to requirements.
This provides Rohl with a number of wide alternatives before the 2024–25 Championship season, albeit there are still not many possibilities for strikers or center-midfielders.
There’s still plenty of time for Rohl and his group to decide what to do next in the timeframe. They undoubtedly have ambitions to add to their midfield recruiting in order to join Svante Ingelsson, who is also joining, but their wide choices are beginning to appear excessive.
If Sheffield Wednesday can sign a midfield player with Championship experience to bolster their roster, they could have the ideal transfer window.

Ahead of the 2024–2025 season, Sheffield Wednesday has been actively involved in trades; the most recent addition to Danny Rohl’s expanding Championship team is James Beadle, who was signed on a loan.
Following the acquisition of Yan Valery and Max Lowe for the defence, Rohl is now focused on bringing a goal scorer to Sheffield Wednesday.
Olaf Kobacki, a Swedish winger, has already made an impact this summer by scoring 15 goals in the Polish second division.
But now that they’ve moved to Austria, they’ve lost out on an international attacking target.
