Done deal for sheffield wednesday

It’s thought that Oxford United expressed a stronger desire to sign Will Vaulks for the upcoming campaign than Sheffield Wednesday did.
After earning Player of the Season and contributing significantly to the Owls’ Championship survival, the midfielder, who will now sign with the U’s on July 1st, was given a contract to remain at Hillsborough; but, the terms of the deal were judged inadequate.

It is believed that Oxford was eager to demonstrate their commitment to signing him by offering a long three-year contract, and the length of the deal, in addition to his contacts with the team, was a major factor in his choice.

Vaulks has only played for S6 for two seasons, but in that time he has made nearly 100 appearances in blue and white, playing a key role in the team’s survival and promotion efforts under both Danny Röhl and Darren Moore, the man who signed him. It is thought that he had no intention of leaving, but it seems the Owls were not as ambitious as Oxford to have him signed for 2024–2025.
