The time of year when new contracts are announced is drawing near, and Will Vaulks is busy causing Sheffield Wednesday a headache.

The player gave another impressive performance on Friday night, this time coming off the bench as Wednesday fell to Leeds 2-0.

Vaulks was a key member of the Owls’ League One winning team the previous season, and now Danny Rohl needs to make a crucial judgement about Sheffield Wednesday.

Vaulks is, in our opinion, making significant progress towards demonstrating his merit for a new contract at Hillsborough after this one ends.

Vaulks’ 26 minutes on the pitch against Leeds were remarkable, as shown by his impressive stats on Who Scored.

Even though he was limited to a late substitute appearance, he managed to win three tackles during his time on the pitch, making him the most of any Wednesday player.

Vaulks attempted 25 passes and ended with a 72% pass success ratio; once again, he tried to keep things simple.

He looks fit for his age of thirty, and this season has shown time and time again that he still has what it takes to compete at this level.

Vaulks is a major fan of The Star reporter Joe Crann, who labelled him a “destroyer” for his efforts in the middle of the park earlier this season.

It’s difficult to believe that the midfield player would decline the opportunity to play for the football team after this season.

After coming from Cardiff to join Wednesday in 2022, Vaulks has made 83 appearances for the team.

Vaulks makes about £8,000 a week, which is less than the highest-paid players at the team, according to Salary Sport.

Consequently, it makes sense to attempt and hold him at the team for the upcoming season, no matter what division Wednesday ends up in.

Vaulks puts in a lot of effort in the middle of the park, and ever since joining the team, he has demonstrated a commitment to the Wednesday cause.

He was given the captain’s armband against Plymouth last week, demonstrating Rohl’s obvious admiration for the midfield player.

Vaulks is still a valuable member of the Wednesday team, in our opinion, and the team would be well to sign him to a new contract soon.
