This summer, Sheffield Wednesday is eager to entice the midfield player to Hillsborough on a free transfer. Under the direction of well-liked German manager Danny Rohl, they have been quite active in the transfer market over the past few months as they get ready for their first full season.

At the conclusion of the previous season, Chalobah, 29, severed his connection with West Brom after the club decided not to offer him a contract extension at The Hawthorns. As a free agent, he has been considering his options since his contract with the Midlands officially terminated at the end of the previous month.

The Star claims that the Owls have him marked as a “target” as they attempt to carry out their massive hiring spree. Charlie McNeill, an attacker who left Manchester United earlier this week, was finalised in their addition.

Chalobah may be seen by Sheffield Wednesday as a way to bolster their midfield ranks with additional depth and competitiveness.

He signed for West Brom in January 2023, and he played for them in the Championship the following season, making 33 appearances as they advanced to the play-offs. They did, however, fall to eventual winners Southampton in the semifinals.

The man, who was born in Sierra Leone and earned his first cap for England in 2018, was signed by Chelsea in 2004 after playing for Fulham.

Chalobah rose up through the academy ranks at Stamford Bridge and went on to play 15 times for the first-team of the Premier League giants, as well as having loan spells away at Watford, Nottingham Forest, Middlesbrough, Burnley, Reading and Napoli to gain experience. He then cut ties with the London club permanently and has since had stints at Watford and Fulham again.

What next for Sheffield Wednesday?

The Owls’ best summertime move thus far has been holding onto Rohl.

They now have stability and a manager who can draw in quality players.
