While his parent club makes decisions about his future, one of the names on Sheffield Wednesday’s lengthy list of possible summer targets is attracting interest from several sides.

The Star revealed last month that the Owls were planning to bring young striker Mika Biereth to Hillsborough during the current transfer window, most likely on a loan basis. This news rekindled their interest in the Arsenal player. Positive negotiations were held on Wednesday about a January loan switch for the Denmark youth international, but he was eventually taken by Sturm Graz, the eventual Austrian champions, to play in the Europa Conference League.

The goal is still high because of the publicity and interest that his time in Austria generated throughout Europe. Once more, it is believed that Sturm Graz was eager to sign him and had discussions with Arsenal regarding a possible permanent move in the upcoming weeks, but were turned off by the London team’s high demands. That cost is estimated to be approximately £4 million.

It would imply that Arsenal is ready to sell at the right price, but if those reports are true, the asking price will probably be too high for Wednesday. In 2025, Biereth’s contract with the team he joined after rising through the youth ranks at Fulham expires. The Star has been informed that it’s possible the Gunners look to extend his contract at the Emirates in order to welcome another experience-gaining loan spell, possibly in England. It’s unclear whether the Gunners have the option to extend that deal.

European reports now suggest that Belgian champions Club Brugge are planning to make a move to sign Biereth, who was observed by them many times while he was in Austria, to replace Brazilian striker Igor Thiago, who is heading to Brentford. The 21-year-old is not the only striker on Brugge’s shortlist, according to HLN, but interest is there even though no offer has been made yet. It’s unclear if they would rather move permanently or on loan. The Belgian team has advanced to the third qualifying round of the Champions League, where they will have the chance to compete this year.
