Details after Micky Moore discusses Shrewsbury Town’s transfer plans

Director of football Micky Moore says Shrewsbury Town is working ‘tirelessly’ to get loan players in as soon as possible.

Twelve players are currently in the building for Salop, who play Brackley Town in their first preseason match next week.

The trio of Chey Dunkley, Dan Udoh, and Marko Marosi has rejected new contracts from Town and is either still looking for a new opportunity or has already signed with another team; in any case, they will not be playing in Shropshire the next season.

Shrewsbury supporters are starting to get anxious about their team’s composition in front of the upcoming season due to the lack of transfer rumours, particularly in light of Udoh’s recent departure.

The club’s director of football, Moore, also stated in an open letter to supporters that while work is being done behind the scenes, they will need to exercise patience in order to sign their loan targets since the Europeans are holding things up.

“I know everyone reading this will want to know what other signings are in the works,” he stated.

Paul, Chris, Tom Ware, the head of recruitment, and I still have a lot of work ahead of us, much of it done behind the scenes.

It is going to be stronger than it has ever been because of the teams emerging from League Two and the Championship.

“It is imperative that we assemble a competitive team, and loan players will play a significant role in that.

“Hopefully, we avoid experiencing nearly as much poor luck with our loanees as we did the previous year.

We signed six, and four of those ended up requiring surgery; as a result, we had a steep hill to climb.

“Although it is really annoying, we must exercise patience in obtaining the loan players we desire.

“The European Championship has begun; hopefully, England will win it all. However, this will have an impact on when Premier League teams will permit their young players to go on loan.

“Many teams want their top young players to participate in preseason tours.

If players return from the Euros fatigued and in need of a break, there will be a greater need for young players.

This could imply that we won’t receive our loans until much later in the preseason or perhaps not at all.

“That isn’t the best situation. However, we are exerting every effort to admit them as soon as possible.”
