Russell Martin’s  sheer skill at his disposal helps Southampton, who still have a chance at earning automatic prom otion.

Nine points separate Southampton and second-place Leicester going into the international break. Leicester had been leading the Championship for a considerable amount of time.

After defeating Sunderland and Birmingham City, Russell Martin’s team will be optimistic about closing the deficit and into the top two of the league with two games remaining.

Even while the elite teams’ unrelenting pace casts doubt on their chances, the Saints shouldn’t be written off because they still have games against Leeds United, Ipswich Town, and Leicester to play.

Possessing players with game-changing ability eases Southampton’s promotion challenge as well.

David Brooks on the flank, Adam Armstrong up front, and Stuart Armstrong in midfield make form Martin’s excellent starting XI, which is far too good for the Championship.

The major reasons Southampton has a good chance of making it back to the Premier League are these three players and a few others.
With players like Jan Bednarek, Che Adams, and Kyle Walker-Peters among the star-studded Saints roster, Martin has an abundance of options all over the pitch.

This makes it hard to pick out just a few players for praise, but analyst Adrian Clarke has been particularly impressed with Stuart Armstrong, Adam Armstrong, and Brooks, according to his comments on the What the EFL?! podcast.

He thinks that three players are capable of winning games on their own and shouldn’t be totally disregarded in the promotion battle.

Clarke remarked, “They’ve also got some real class individuals like David Brooks.” “I think Adam and Stuart Armstrong have both been outstanding this season. There are guys in these major games who have the individual ability to win. Thus, I wouldn’t write them off just yet.

It is incorrect to rule Southampton out of the race for promotion.

With two games remaining, the Saints have a great chance to catch up to their rivals with the most points possible, but at this time in the season, losing any of them would be devastating.

Southampton’s deadly offence has come into its own after defeating Birmingham and Sunderland with four goals.

The players will now have a two-week vacation from competition, and Martin will have an opportunity to focus on his style on the training pitch before a hectic schedule.

Southampton has nine games in 29 days, which will be physically demanding for the players. However, if they can maintain their competitive edge over that time, many opponents will be wary of the Saints.
