Dave Canales’ successful offense overhaul of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers prompted attention to become Carolina Panthers head coach. The Buccaneers replaced him with former Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator Liam Coen weeks later.

Coen served as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Kentucky for one year, having done so in 2021. As Rams offensive coordinator in 2022, Coen worked closely with quarterback Baker Mayfield in the second half.

Who among Rams free agents may join Coen in Tampa?

Kevin Dotson

Dotson finally had his breakout season four years into his career. Dotson made his Rams debut in a Week 4 win over the Colts. For the rest of the season, the guard started at right guard due to his performance.

Right guard Cody Mauch had a good rookie year, but Aaron Stinnie’s free agency might open up a left-side spot. The Buccaneers may want Dotson in 2024 as a productive run blocker.

Troy Reeder

The Buccaneers must decide on Lavonte David and Devin White’s free agency. Whatever the case, Troy Reeder may be a good linebacker backup. Reeder has played five NFL seasons in Los Angeles, four with the Rams and one with the Chargers.

In 2021, Reeder set personal records with 91 tackles, two sacks, and two interceptions to help the Rams win the Super Bowl. While a possible starter, the linebacker might dominate special teams for the Buccaneers.

Demarcus Robinson

Wide receiver Demarcus Robinson concluded 2023 with 21 receptions for 319 yards in the last six weeks. This year, longstanding top receiver Mike Evans will test free agency, casting doubt on the Buccaneers’ receiving room.

The Buccaneers want Evans back, but in 2024, they may need everyone to cover a huge vacuum. In Evans’ absence, Chris Godwin would presumably become the No. 1 receiver and Trey Palmer WR2. Robinson might have instant effect as a third option.
