According to 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz, the Philadelphia Eagles will not hire Seattle Seahawks senior defensive assistant/defensive passing game coordinator Karl Scott.

New head coach Mike Macdonald is anticipated to keep Scott despite having “been on the verge of being hired by the Eagles.”

How Scott would play for the Eagles remained unclear. One writer suggested he would be their defensive backs coach, while another said he would play a “senior defensive role.”

Regardless, the Eagles won’t sign Scott. They may need a new DBs coach, unless they plan to run it with D.K. McDonald after replacing him? Or was McDonald always meant to be paired with a more senior assistant?

We’ll see.

Consider Miami Dolphins passing game coordinator/secondary coach Renaldo Hill and former Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Ed Donatell. Both have Vic Fangio coaching experience.

No word on whether the Seahawks will keep Clint Hurtt. It appears the Eagles will hire him as their defensive line coach.
