Reports indicate that the Los Angeles Dodgers may slow down ace Walker Buehler’s start to the season as he recovers from Tommy John surgery.

Reportedly, the Los Angeles Dodgers may slow down ace pitcher Walker Buehler’s start to the season as he recovers from Tommy John surgery.

As reported in the Orange County Register by Bill Plunkett:

However, Walker Buehler’s 2024 may begin late – not by accident, but on purpose.

“He’s in good health. He continues to advance. “Our personnel who have seen Buehler recently report that the ball is coming out well,” Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes said earlier in the offseason regarding the pitcher’s ongoing rehabilitation from a second Tommy John operation that was conducted in August 2022.

“As he continues to develop and advance, we will precisely determine the schedule for his season in 2024.” We would prefer to avoid accumulating an excessive amount of time prior to spring training.

It is much simpler for the Dodgers to “slow play” Buehler beginning with the 2024 season due to the recent additions of Tyler Glasnow and Yoshinobu Yamamoto.

The Dodgers may as well keep Buehler healthier and refreshed for the remainder of the season, rather than delaying it for health reasons. A group that aspires to win the World Series in 2024 desires to have access to its finest weaponry as early as October.

Buehler is one of the greatest pitchers in all of baseball when healthy; therefore, the Dodgers will be hopeful that he can regain his form. The two-time All-Star, age 29, contributed to the Los Angeles Ramblers’ 2020 World Series victory.

Righty has a career record of 46-16 with a 3.02 ERA. He achieved a 16-game winning streak during his most recent season of optimal health, 2021.
