Latest transfer rumours as the deadline for the end of January transfer window approaches

Steven Naismith and Nick Montgomery have less than 12 hours till the January transfer window closes. It may not be as significant for the team presently in third place, but Monty’s Hibs will be hoping to get any last-minute agreements to aid their push to play in the top half of the league when the break occurs.

Dundee’s 1-1 tie with Aberdeen not only cost Barry Robson his job, but also dropped the Leith-based club to seventh place in the league. Hibs will shortly face St Mirren in an attempt to move back up the leaderboard, and they will be hoping that the recent arrivals of Emiliano Marcondes, Myziane Maolida, and, most recently, Nathan Moriah-Welsh will bring about the necessary alterations.

With only a few hours left in the transfer window, here’s the latest from the SPFL…

Spain interested in Dons star.

Leganes, the Spanish second-tier leaders, have indicated interest in Aberdeen attacker Duk, although they are just one of several teams interested in the 23-year-old, who was not selected in the squad for Tuesday’s draw with Dundee.

Luis Lopes was absent from the Dons’ 1-1 draw with Dundee, which resulted in Barry Robson’s dismissal, sparking speculation he may depart Pittodrie. The La Liga 2 leaders are allegedly ‘interested’ in the Cape Verde international.

Duk has not started a game since the 3-0 home defeat to St Mirren, with his only outings since then coming as a substitute in the Scottish Cup victory over Clyde and the Premiership defeat to Hearts.

Celtic set for a £2 million transfer

Celtic are set to sell 24-year-old Scotland midfielder David Turnbull to Cardiff City for £2 million, while Paris St-Germain’s 31-year-old Layvin Kurzawa has emerged as a left-back option for the Scottish champions after their attempts to sign Hugo Bueno from Wolverhampton Wanderers were rejected (Daily Mail).

This would not be the first time the Welsh club has looked at Turnbull, as they attempted to sign the midfielder in 2020 before his transfer to Scotland. The ex-Motherwell player has seven Premiership goals in 16 appearances this season, and if the trade is completed, Turnbull would join former Celtic colleague Nat Phillips at the Championship club.
