Roughly a month after making the major deal for OG Anunoby, the New York Knicks are still weighing their options as they hunt for roster upgrades ahead of the season’s final stretch run.

With the NBA Trade Deadline less than three weeks away, the Knicks have a natural opportunity to make another move before the playoffs.

Even if the Knicks do not make any other moves before the trade deadline, the buyout market is expected to provide New York with another opportunity to enhance the roster. According to a recent report, the Knicks could be interested in two major names if they enter the buyout market. Kyle Lowry and Gordon Hayward, who both joined the Charlotte Hornets following the Terry Rozier deal, are two major stars that Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau admires.

Those are two players who could be ideal for a Knicks club looking to add depth before the playoffs begin. Lowry, in particular, might play a role for the team as a backup point guard to Jalen Brunson after the Knicks moved Immanuel Quickley as part of the Anuonby transaction.

Even if the Knicks have the potential to make another move before the NBA Trade Deadline, there is no guarantee they will. With how the squad has performed after the Anunoby trade, there is a lot of confidence surrounding this team.

New York may not feel compelled to pursue another deal at the deadline and may instead wait until the offseason to fully commit. Especially given that there may not be another easily accessible talent who can significantly impact the squad right now.

If the front staff believes this is the case, it makes sense to just wait until the buyout market to solve their current largest issue, which is a lack of a senior backup point guard.
