On Thursday night, the Memphis Grizzlies dealt big Steven Adams to the Houston Rockets in exchange for guard Victor Oladipo and three draft picks.

Adams and Oladipo haven’t played this season due to injuries.

The Grizzlies confirmed the trade late Thursday night, saying they received three second-round draft picks from the Rockets. ESPN stated that two of the picks will come in this year’s draft and the other in 2025.

Adams was injured last season and had surgery on his right knee shortly before the start of this season. He is anticipated to miss the entire season, but he should be ready to play next season.

Adams, Pittsburgh’s 12th overall pick in the 2013 draft, spent two seasons with the Grizzlies before the knee injury, averaging 8.6 points and 11.5 rebounds, with a 5.1 offensive rebounding average. He spent seven seasons with Oklahoma City and one with the New Orleans Pelicans before joining Memphis.

Oladipo, who has also contended with ailments, has a career average of 16.9 points per game since being taken second overall in the 2013 NBA draft out of Indiana. However, his scoring average has declined over the last three years.

Oladipo’s finest season with Indiana was in 2017-18, when he averaged 23.1 points, 4.3 assists, and 2.4 steals per game.
