Fiji’s rugby captain, Waisea Nayacalevu, has finalized a move to Sale Sharks in the English Premiership, marking a significant step in his decorated career.
Known for his dynamic performances and leadership on the field, Nayacalevu will replace England center Manu Tuilagi, who is anticipated to move to the French Top 14. The contract spans one year, with an option to extend, aligning him with the Sharks for the 2024/25 season.
Nayacalevu, 33, has played extensively in France, including a decade with Stade Français and a stint with Toulon.
His achievements include leading Fiji to their historic victory over England at Twickenham and guiding them to the 2023 Rugby World Cup quarterfinals.
With 34 international caps, he brings experience and versatility, capable of playing center and wing positions.
The move also highlights Nayacalevu’s ambition to experience English rugby and contribute to Sale’s young squad, sharing his expertise while pursuing new challenges.
