Most of you know the Philadelphia Eagles have added to their coaching staff again. The choice is Bobby King. Last year’s linebackers coach D.J. Eliot will be replaced. ESPN’s Tim McManus reported Wednesday first.
Philly interviewed former Jacksonville Jaguars defensive coordinator Mike Caldwell and former Green Bay Packers coordinator Joe Barry, but they left. Las Vegas Raiders signed Caldwell. Barry joined the Dolphins. Both are linebackers coaches/run game coordinators.
King doesn’t possess a famous football name like ‘Gronkowski’ or ‘Manning’. His name seems like an infomercial presenter, yet he has a great resume.

Zach Cunningham may be around. Howie Roseman praised Cunningham during the Eagles’ season-ending presser when questioned about Philly’s periodic neglect of linebacker needs.
History links Cunningham and King. In 2022, they were with the Tennessee Titans after several seasons with the Houston Texans.

King has almost 13 years of coaching expertise. After working with the Chargers (2014-2016), Texans (2011-2013, 2017-2021), and Titans (2022), a younger King was the Dallas Cowboys’ assistant linebackers/defensive quality control coach in 2010.
We won’t judge him. He should benefit Philly’s defensive coaching staff and instruct Nakobe Dean, who is still maturing.
