Nicolo Zaniolo has not found consistency at Aston Villa, but is receiving interest from three Serie A clubs.

According to speculations, Nicolo Zaniolo could leave Aston Villa permanently this summer to join a Serie A club.

Unai Emery believed he had pulled off a coup by convincing the Italian international to sign on loan. Villa paid a hefty £4 million fee to transfer the midfielder to the Premier League for the 2023-24 season.

That included the possibility of signing Zaniolo permanently for around £25million in July. However, the move has failed to work out, with the 24-year-old failing to replicate his Roma form.

Zaniolo rose to prominence in Italy’s capital before joining Galatasaray a year ago. The move to Turkey failed, but Villa fans hoped to see the old Zaniolo this season.

That has eventually failed to materialise, with the midfielder failing to play the whole 90 minutes for Emery. Zaniolo has primarily been deployed out wide when called upon, however he has only one goal and zero assists in 15 Premier League outings.

He was also involved in the Italian betting scandal, which resulted in severe bans for Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali and Juventus’ Nicolo Fagioli. According to reports in Italy, numerous Serie A big hitters may offer an escape path.

Tutto Mercato Web lists three clubs where he previously played as a youth player: AC Milan, Napoli, and Fiorentina. Despite his lack of playing time at Villa Park, Zaniolo remains hopeful of joining the Italy squad for Euro 2024, where they have drawn Albania, Spain, and Croatia.
