Rajon Rondo, a former NBA point guard, was reportedly detained on Sunday for unauthorized possession of a handgun, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.

According to WDRB’s Jason Riley, local police in Jackson County, Indiana, stopped Rondo after he was spotted committing a traffic infraction. The police searched Rondo’s car after smelling marijuana inside.

A representative for Indiana State Police stated Monday that the arresting officer discovered a gun, “personal use” marijuana, and drug paraphernalia in Rondo’s vehicle.

Rondo was taken to the Jackson County Jail and was able to pay bail immediately. All outstanding charges against Rondo are misdemeanors.

The four-time NBA All-Star is now prohibited from carrying a firearm owing to a no-contact order against him that remains in place. The court mandate resulted from an incident in 2022 in which Rondo allegedly brandished a gun on the mother of his two children.

Rondo last competed in the NBA during the 2021-22 season. Between stints with the Los Angeles Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers, he averaged 4.8 and 4.4 points per game, respectively. Rondo is a two-time NBA champion, having won a title with the Celtics in 2008 and the Lakers in 2020.
