Kyle Lowry has only recently joined the Charlotte Hornets, yet there is already discussion of selling him.

Lowry is an NBA champion and 6-time All-Star, thus his services will not be cheap.

Up to seven teams will be unable to sign him because they have reached their pay cap.

The Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers, Boston Celtics, Phoenix Suns, Milwaukee Bucks, Miami Heat, and Denver Nuggets can only sign buyout players with contracts totaling less than $12.4 million.

Lowry was transferred from the Heat to help them reduce their luxury tax obligations, with Terry Rozier joining Miami.

Lowry’s contract is worth $29.6 million, while Rozier’s is for $23.2 million.

Now that we’ve determined who cannot acquire the 37-year-old, let’s look at where he should or could go.

On the floor, the Suns would be a perfect venue, particularly given their weakness at point guard.

Lowry’s emotional decision to return to the Raptors, where his successful career began, will make short-term sense on the court, but it will be a PR disaster off the court for Toronto.

He spent the majority of his career with the Raptors, where he helped them win the NBA championship.

He was signed by the Grizzlies in 2006 and later played for the Rockets before spending nine seasons with the Raptors, where his jersey will definitely hang in the rafters.
