Sky Sports Reporter Predicts Rangers’ Transfer Deadline Mystery Signing

Rangers might be quite active on transfer deadline day, according to Sky Sports’ Michael Bridge.

The Gers have already signed Fabio Silva and Mohamed Diomande during the January transfer window.

Left-back Jefte has also been connected, but a deal looks more likely to be completed in the summer [Fabrizio Romano].

Oscar Cortes is also said to be in Glasgow, preparing to complete a move before the deadline of 23:30 on Thursday (1 February).

In an interview with Give Me Sport [31 January], Bridge stated that a player other than those two could put pen to paper.

“Rangers are looking at a left-back,” said the manager. “They were waiting for Jefte to be approved, and they’re in talks with Lens about signing winger Cortes on loan.

“If Clement can get four players in, I think he’ll be overjoyed.” A source also said there could be one more, so we’ll have to wait and see.

“But I think if Clement got four in, he’d be delighted because I don’t think he inherited the best squad in the world, and he inherited players who came in in the summer who just haven’t done enough.”

Could this be Shankland?

Rangers have had a successful transfer window overall, yet fans would like to see a new striker added.

Diomande appears to be a very talented central midfield potential, and Silva will provide another option in the final third over the next three months.

Jefte’s arrival has been delayed, but it shouldn’t matter too much at this point.

If one more player is bought, Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland will undoubtedly be high on many supporters’ wishlists.

Philippe Clement’s present squad, if the window closes right now, is capable of challenging Celtic for the title.

With Shankland also at Ibrox, the Gers can truly consider themselves favourites based on Clement’s performance so far.

Regardless of what happens on deadline day, Clement will undoubtedly keep working wonders with what he has.

In other Rangers news, Hearts have apparently given Shankland a contract ultimatum.
