The Warriors and Suns played a thrilling game Saturday night, with Golden State winning 113-112 thanks to a Steph Curry 3-pointer with less than a second remaining.
But the real event was the matchup between Draymond Green and Jusuf Nurkic, who shared the court for the first time since Green clocked Nurkic in the head, earning Green an extended suspension. The two engaged in a lot of physical play and exchanged “too small” gestures.
Following the game, the two engaged in a war of words via the media.
“It is sad. “(Green) learned nothing, man,” Nurkic added. “It’s only a matter of time before he knocks someone else. Take back all I’ve said. “He doesn’t deserve a chance.”
Nurkic criticized Green’s “antics” and claimed that he tries to hurt people.
Green didn’t mince words when he learned of Nurkic’s comments.
Draymond Green reacts after being fouled by Jusuf Nurkic in Saturday’s game.
“I thought I was pretty great tonight, honestly,” Green replied after a long pause. “He tried to get into my head, but it didn’t work. I won’t walk around quietly like him.” Quiet folks do not win.
Green, who finished with 15 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds, stated that he had a fantastic game.
“(Nurkic) can keep riding the same horse he came in on, and he can ride his ass out of here on the same horse. “It’s not working,” Green added.
Curry also called Nurkic’s comments “idiotic” in his postgame press conference.
“Draymond was in his head, plain and simple,” Curry explained.
Unfortunately, the Suns (31-22) and Warriors (25-25) aren’t scheduled to meet again during the regular season. We may always hope for a playoff matchup.
