Aston Villa Birmingham newsLive: Unai Emery updates injuries before FA Cup fourth-round replay with Chelsea at Villa Park.
Ezri Konsa will miss three to four weeks owing to a knee injury, but Pau Torres will play against Chelsea on Wednesday night, and Nicolo Zaniolo has returned to fitness.
Konsa hobbled off after hitting the post in Villa’s 5-0 triumph over Sheffield United on Saturday. Emery said the centre-back may miss until March after examinations.
Torres returned to full training at Bodymoor Heath this week, a boost given Konsa’s absence. After again aggravating his ankle injury against Brentford in December, the Spaniard hasn’t started since.
Emery remarked of Konsa’s injury: “Injured. His knee sprain will keep him out for three to four weeks.
The other players are out tomorrow. Lucas Digne is sidelined but improving. Pau Torres will be on the bench after training with the team.”
After injuring his hamstring before the FA Cup match at Stamford Bridge last month, Jhon Duran will miss at least four weeks.
