Tyrese Maxey of the Philadelphia 76ers, Jalen Brunson of the New York Knicks, and Paolo Banchero of the Orlando Magic are all making their first NBA All-Star appearance.
That represents one end of the spectrum. On the other end comes Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry, who made his tenth All-Star appearance as the NBA announced its All-Star reserves Thursday.
San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama, who averages 20.6 points, 10.1 rebounds, 3.2 blocks, 3.1 assists, and 1.1 steals, was not selected to the All-Star team. He hoped to become the first rookie All-Star since Blake Griffin in 2011.
Coaches vote on the All-Star reserves, which include two backcourt players, three frontcourt players, and two wild cards.
The All-Star Game is scheduled for February 18 in Indianapolis, and the starters were announced on January 25.
For the first time, New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson has been named to the All-Star team.
Let’s look at the seven reserves from the east and seven reserves from the west.

Who was excluded from the 2024 NBA All-Star Game?
The first rule of the Snub Club is that you must disclose who you are removing off the list. Then it becomes a more challenging and intellectually honest task.
The truth is that players who deserve to be on the All-Star squad, who have All-Star statistics and have helped their teams, will not be selected. There are not enough places to go around.
In the West, the Sacramento Kings deserve an All-Star, either De’Aaron Fox or Domantas Sabonis. I don’t mind two Clippers getting the nod, but to spread the love, I would have left out Paul George and included Fox.
There are no major exclusions in the East. Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young is having an All-Star season, but I’m not sure I’m dropping anyone for him. Boston forward-center Kristaps Porzingis is also enjoying a good season, but it’s difficult to choose three players from the same team to the All-Star team.
Randle is out for at least another 2-3 weeks and may not be available for the All-Star Game; if that happens, Commissioner Adam Silver will choose a substitute.
