When a stolen motorcycle was spotted being ridden in St. Helens early on, two teenagers were taken into custody, and a police dog assisted in the detention of one of the suspects.

At approximately 2.45 a.m. on this Wednesday, June 26, officers were called to a report of two boys riding in a vehicle.

When the police arrived, the suspects got off the motorcycle and tried to run away from them.

One suspect was discovered in an overgrown area off James Roby Way, the new name for the St. Helen’s Linkway.

In the meantime, another person was apprehended in the vicinity, and the motorcycle was discovered abandoned in Tesco’s parking lot.
A 17-year-old boy was taken into custody on suspicion of motor vehicle theft, reckless driving, failing to stop, driving beyond the limits of his license, equipping himself for theft, and inappropriately carrying a passenger on a motorcycle.


A 13-year-old boy was detained in the meantime on suspicion of stealing a car, using it as a tool for theft, and riding in or on a car that was taken without the owner’s permission.
“We received a report at 2.45am today (Wednesday) of two males riding a motorbike around St Helens town centre,” a spokeswoman for Merseyside Police stated.
“A man was found by patrols in an overgrown area near the St Helens Linkway. There was also another male nearby.

Later on, the motorcycle was discovered abandoned in the Tesco parking lot.

“A 17-year-old male was taken into custody on suspicion of stealing a motor vehicle, reckless driving, failing to stop, driving beyond the limits of his license, equipping himself for theft, and inappropriately carrying a passenger on a motorcycle.

“A 13-year-old boy was taken into custody on suspicion of stealing a car, breaking into vehicles equipped for theft, and riding in or on a car that was taken without the owner’s permission.

“They’re both still being held.”
