St Helens and Wigan Warriors dealt major blows

In Round Eight, a number of Super League teams, including Wigan Warriors and St Helens, faced injury concerns.

Lewis Dodd of St Helens was substituted out due to a groyne injury prior to a 58-0 victory over Hull FC. Head coach Paul Wellens stated, “Daryl Clark and Lewis Dodd miss out today, they’ve been carrying niggles for a few weeks.”

“This game has come a little bit too soon, given the short turnaround.”

In the meantime, Charbel Tasipale appeared to have suffered a serious knee injury early in the Castleford Tigers’ match against the Wigan Warriors, adding to the team’s already dire injury situation.
After just seven minutes on the field, the Lebanese international left the game, and head coach Craig Lingard announced, “He’s got his knee in a brace, so he’ll be going for a scan.”

Wigan, their opponents, had cause for concern after star Adam Keighran left the field with tape wrapped around his leg.
But Adam is fine, according to head coach Matt Peet, so there’s not much to worry about. Zach Eckersley would have been a good player if he hadn’t been on the bench.
In addition to losing to the Huddersfield Giants at home, Leeds Rhinos now have two new injury concerns from the previous weekend.

After undergoing surgery in the off-season, David Fusitu’a had just returned from injury. However, head coach Rohan Smith revealed that Fusitu’a had a knee injury, so this might be the last time we see him for some time.

The other leg’s knee injury is distinct from this one.

I am truly heartbroken and sad for him.

Centre Smith explained that Harry Newman had to leave the game due to a back injury, saying, “Newman got hit in the back very early.”

Despite suffering from back spasms, he was unable to continue.

Warrington overcame a scare to defeat Leigh Leopards by a narrow margin; however, at halftime, Connor Wrench was forced off due to an ankle injury.

Due to an ACL injury, Wrench missed a large portion of the previous campaign, but head coach Sam Burgess believes this one won’t be too bad:

“I don’t believe it to be very significant. Nothing that will keep him out for an extended amount of time.

Last but not least, Matt Ikuvalu’s head injury may have cast a shadow over Catalans Dragons’ historic victory over Hull KR, but he appears to be fine for the team’s next Super League games.
