With St Helens, Regan Grace had an incredible start to his rugby league career. The Port Talbot-born winger was a member of the team from 2016 to 2022, when he decided to play rugby union.

Grace was a mainstay on a winning Saints team. During his 141 club outings, he scored 88 tries. During his tenure at the club, he won three Super League Grand Finals, collected the Challenge Cup in 2021, and was the competition’s top try-scorer.

But a string of severe injuries has impeded his development in the 15-man code. He originally committed to the 2023 season with Racing 92, a French Top 14 team, but he tore his Achilles during his last campaign there.

Grace’s ailment returned in February 2023, keeping him from playing for the French team. Nevertheless, Grace signed a contract with Bath for the 2024–25 season, with an option to extend it for an additional year, after recuperating from his subsequent injury.

Grace has just gotten an unexpected overseas call-up.
Grace, who was called up to the Wales summer squad, might be the most recent of many well-known Welsh dual-code internationals. Grace played Rugby Union with the Ospreys as a junior before moving to St Helens. Grace played rugby league for Wales internationally six times.

On Saturday, Wales will play South Africa at Twickenham. However, because Grace plays for an English club, he will not be available for selection because the match is outside of the World Rugby International calendar.

However, Grace could have the chance to play in his first-ever Wales home game against Australia in July. Given his history of injuries, it is all the more amazing that he was called up and hasn’t played in a club rugby union match yet.
