Stockport County hopes to recover from their League Two loss by travelling to the MEMS Priestfield Stadium late on Tuesday to play Gillingham.

After 32 games, the Hatters are leading the league. However, on Saturday, they lost 4-0 on the road against Tranmere Rovers.

They take against Gillingham, who are now ranked 11th in the table and who also lost their most recent game, 1-0 to Newport County.

Stockport are the best scoring team in the division, averaging 2.1 goals per game, having scored 66 goals in 32 games this season. Additionally, they are giving up less goals than usual, giving up 37 goals at a pace of 1.2 per game.

Gillingham, on the other hand, only scores one goal a game, well below the league average of 1.5. Every game, they have given up 1.2 goals.

The Gills have one of the safest hands in the league in Jake Turner. Only two other ‘keepers in League Two have been able to stop the opposition from scoring as often as he has—Christy Pym of Mansfield Town and Alex Bass of AFC Wimbledon—with 10 clean sheets in 32 appearances this season.

Ben Hinchiffe has also kept 10 clean sheets in 32 outings in the County goal.

With just one victory and three draws in their previous six games, the hosts’ performance in League Two is dismal.

The Hatters have been more successful than Gillingham during that time, winning three and drawing one. They have taken ten points out of a possible eighteen.
Gillingham and Stockport have faced off three times in the past three years. They drew the other one and Gillingham won the other.

August 5 was their most recent meeting, which Gillingham won 1-0 on the road.

Lee Swabey, who has officiated seven League Two games this season and has already shown 22 player bookings and two red cards, will officiate the game on Tuesday. He’s given out one penalty.

On November 28, Gillingham defeated AFC Wimbledon 1-0 at home in the final match Swabey officiated. This season, he has not yet presided over a Stockport game.
