Ashfield District Council’s Idlewells Indoor Market is on track to become one of the top indoor markets in the East Midlands, thanks to recent upgrades.
Idlewells Indoor Market is located at the back of the Idlewells Shopping Centre in Sutton. From the outside, it appears to be a conventional market, but once inside, you are welcomed with a bright, spacious, modern market hall.
The market reopened in 2018 after a £1.8 million restoration that included a completely new layout, freeing up space to provide a personalised shopping experience, complete with a dining area for food and drink.
Sutton’s famed indoor market has welcomed Jon’s Fish Dish, which sells fresh and frozen fish and seafood directly from Grimsby. Along with Jon’s new stall, Larvin’s fruit and vegetable stall now sells flowers and floral arrangements. With these two additions, Idlewells Indoor Market now provides an extensive range of items and services.
Visitors to the market can have barista-style coffee, hot chocolate, tea, or cooked cuisine at one of the food court’s three cafés, which cater to a variety of preferences. The nearby stalls sell fresh meat, baked products, confectionery, books, games, cards, balloons, presents, cheese, homeware, handbags, women’s apparel and knickers, watches, fruit and vegetables. Several services have been established in the market that offer beauty treatments, watch repairs, and traditional cobbling.

The market offers a diverse range of vendors, including Jon’s Fish Dish and Larvin’s fruit and vegetable stall, making it a convenient one-stop shop.The market reopened in 2018 after a £1.8 million restoration, transforming it into one of, if not the greatest, indoor markets in the East Midlands. Shoppers travel from as far as Newark and Lincoln to see the market. It demonstrates that Ashfield is the ideal spot to launch your small business.”
