Police at East Midlands Airport have warned travellers after detaining a man who seemed to be intoxicated and unruly. As the airport gets ready for the opening of the 2024 holiday season, people are being urged to fly sensibly.

If you have a few drinks before your flight, keep in mind that it only takes one to spoil your vacation because you could not be allowed to board if you are judged unfit to fly. Should you interfere with an aircraft, you might be sentenced to two years in prison or fined up to £5,000 if you cause the flight to be delayed in taking off.

In addition, passengers who provoke an issue while the aeroplane is in flight risk an £80,000 diversion fine or a complete ban from flying. Police at East Midlands Airport on Tuesday, March 19, came across a 22-year-old guy who had overindulged prior to arriving at the airport.

Despite receiving several warnings about their behaviour, the person was eventually taken into custody on suspicion of intoxication and disorderly conduct. Officers interrogated the individual thereafter, and community resolution was used to handle the situation.
Police are admonishing individuals to fly carefully or risk the penalties. East Midlands Airport police, a division of Leicestershire Police, posted on X, now known as Twitter, saying: “Our squad met an adult male yesterday who had overindulged before coming to @EMA_Airport.

“The person was detained on suspicion of being intoxicated and rowdy despite multiple warnings about their behaviour. Fly carefully, or you risk consequences.”
