acob Crompton, 19, was last seen at around midnight on March 23 and locals from his hometown of Retford, Nottinghamshire, have even launched their own searches.

Police are scouring land and water for Jacob, whose mother has described it as ‘completely out of character’ for him not to come home after a night out

The 19-year-old has short, black, mousy hair and is about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a medium body.

When last seen, he was sporting trousers, a hoodie, a North Face anorak and a pair of eye-catching navy blue Nike Air Max trainers.

Police are getting ‘increasingly anxious’ and are searching for the missing adolescent with the help of helicopters, an underwater search team, and a drone team.

Nicola Crompton, Jacob’s mother, said: ‘It is now a full week since Jacob went missing and completely out of character for him not to return home after a night out.

‘He is much loved by his family, friends and colleagues. He had plans for the future and was happy in life.

‘Jacob was wearing his glasses on the evening he went out, Saturday 23rd March, but inexplicably he was not wearing them at the time of his disappearance. Please, please, keep sharing and searching. We need our Jacob to be found.’

Nottinghamshire Police says detectives are trawling through CCTV footage and investigating potential sightings.

The force previously said that it was thought Jacob had walked towards King’s Park in Retford at around 12.22am on March 24, with a member of the public seen on CCTV walking the same route.

Footage around where Jacob was last seen showed a grey Vauxhall Corsa and a person walking towards the park at around 2am, with the vehicle entering an adjacent car park at the front of Sports Direct at 2.03am.

Detective Sergeant Rachel Mayfield, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: ‘We are doing everything we possibly can to find Jacob and we’d urge anyone who has seen him to please get in touch. That one piece of information may help to find him.

As of right now, there is no indication that Jacob’s absence is suspicious, and we will keep responding to any new information that comes to light. The family of Jacob is obviously going through a difficult moment, and they have requested that their privacy be respected.

We continue to keep them informed about our ongoing work and provide them with support from professional officers. In the course of our ongoing investigations, specialised teams have been searching both on land and in the water, including the Retford region, in an attempt to locate Jacob.


A drone crew, an underwater search team, and a helicopter are among the tools utilised in the search process. We genuinely hope to hear from anyone who has seen him as we are becoming more and more concerned for his safety and well-being.

I would ask that anyone who can help the authorities locate Jacob or knows anything at all, no matter how small they may believe it is, please get in contact.

Nottinghamshire Police is asking anyone who has seen Jacob or knows where he is to contact them at 101. It is appropriate to cite occurrence number 299 from March 24.

Public searches for Jacob have reportedly been conducted in forest areas close to Doncaster; other searches have also been conducted in Bawtry, Misson, Misterton, and Mattersey.
