Police confirm body found in Swindon lagoon

On Saturday afternoon, April 20, officers were called to the Raychem Lagoon, which is located between Rodbourne and Cheney Manor Industrial Estate, after a body was found in the water.

The victim was pronounced deceased at the site despite the rescue services’ best attempts.

Officers at the scene verified that the body belonged to a man and that it had been found in Swindon when they were looking for a different person who had gone missing.

However, Wiltshire Police have now confirmed to the Advertiser that the male body belongs to a 17-year-old local lad, two days after it was discovered.

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson stated, “Officers working with our emergency services partners discovered a body in a lagoon near Cheney Manor Industrial Estate while conducting a missing person investigation in Swindon.”

We do not think there are any suspicious conditions or public risk, even though our inquiry is still in its early phases.

“We have notified the person’s next of kin and are sending our condolences to them during this difficult time.

“We would ask that people refrain from speculating about the incident’s circumstances and kindly stay away from the area so that investigations can be conducted.”
