Lewis Brunt, a delighted defender, praised Mansfield Town’s perseverance after they overcame Swindon Town 3-2 at home.

The resilient Robins twice held the promotion-chasing team at bay before Will Swan scored a crucial victory halfway through the second half.

“You can’t take anything away from any player out there; the boys got stuck in,” he remarked.

“We persevered and secured crucial blocks and clearances, particularly when they threw the kitchen sink at us in the end.

“We got the three points, and that’s all that matters. We knew it might be one of those physical games with lots of long balls.”

Nigel Clough, the manager of Stags, expressed his relief at securing three more vital points.

“We always like to play well, but to be honest, right now, performances don’t really matter. The points are all that count,” he declared.

“What matters most is that we prevailed and earned those three points because the teams around us also won, and we managed to maintain the same margin.

“The players need to understand that, just like the entire season, everything they have must go into the final games.”

Gavin Gunning, the temporary head coach of Swindon, lamented a lost chance.

“The truth is that we missed a few excellent opportunities,” he remarked.

Both teams had numerous opportunities, and the score might have easily been 7–7.

“Our mistakes were due to moments of inattention, not any animosity between the teams.

We have given up and given in as a result. Learning is the key, and we must improve our performance.
