The 14-year-old was hit by a car on Akers Way, just outside his school on November 25, 2022, and later died from his injuries after being airlifted to hospital.
A police investigation ensued and a woman in her 50s was arrested shortly afterwards and then released on bail.
Now Wiltshire Police has confirmed that charges have been pressed against Ivy Mwangi, 52, from North Swindon.
Mwangi faces charges of causing death by careless driving and for causing death by driving a vehicle without a licence and insurance.
She is scheduled to appear on Tuesday at Swindon Magistrates Court.
According to sentencing standards, the maximum prison term for causing death by careless driving is five years.
Harry’s parents, Kelly and Adam, published a memorial to him after his passing, calling him their “golden boy.”
“Parents should never have to say something like this. Harry Parker, our gorgeous golden boy, was involved in a terrible car accident on the awful Akers Way road.
Sadly, he passed away much too quickly. Many people will miss Harry, but his family and I will miss him the most.
Harry was a gregarious man whose mere presence could brighten any space. He loved to make others laugh and had the largest heart.
He and his family have now launched ‘Harry’s Get Home Safely Campaign,’ an initiative to improve traffic safety near Swindon’s schools.
In addition to posters encouraging vehicles to slow down placed right at the crossing where Harry was struck, the campaign also placed flashing 20 mph school signs on either side of Nova Head Academy.
Adam Parker, Harry’s father, has also personally spent many hours at the crossing assisting in making sure kids can cross in a safe manner.
A memorial bench has also been placed close to the bridge in honour of the adolescent.
The hut that his football team, Ferndale Rodbourne FC, used to practice was renamed Harry’s Hut in honour of him. At the event, Adam said, “I think this is a long-lasting memory for Harry and for what the club meant to him.” His friends and family also came together to raise money for the campaign on the anniversary of his death last year.
