According to Wiltshire police, a man in his 30s passed away while being held at a Swindon police station. He felt ill on Sunday morning after being detained at the Gablecross police station since Saturday morning.

About nine in the morning on Sunday, the force said, he was pronounced dead. The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has been notified about the event.

According to an IOPC representative, the watchdog has started looking into the event.

Sadly, an ambulance arrived shortly after, and at 9 a.m., he was declared dead. Soon after, Wiltshire police notified us and we launched our own independent investigation. To start gathering evidence, IOPC investigators attended the police post-incident procedures today.
