Arrest made after ‘serious’ Swindon Bus Station incident
At Swindon Bus Station, there was a reported serious attack where a guy was “struck repeatedly over the head.”
On Thursday, July 18, at around 11:50 p.m., officers responded quickly to the bus terminal following complaints of an attack involving a male in his 40s.
The victim was admitted to the hospital for treatment of their injuries, but they have since been released.
Following that, a man in his 40s was taken into jail for questioning under section 18 on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. As of this writing, he is still being questioned.
Officers stood guard and a barricade was still in place at the location early on Friday, July 19.
Crime scenes at the bus station, Old Town, and Western Street will stay in place while more work is done, according to the police, who claim their investigation is still ongoing.
“We have arrested a man on suspicion of section 18 grievous bodily harm following a serious assault at Swindon Bus Station yesterday evening (July 18),” a force spokesperson stated.
“While we do additional inquiries, the scenes at the bus terminal and Western Street, Old Town, remain in place.
“We are requesting that anyone who saw the incident call us at 101 and reference log 392 from yesterday’s date.”
