Following a violent incident between a double decker bus and a car near Sarre, where eight people were injured and one man was taken to a hospital, police are asking for witnesses.

Just before 12:20 p.m. today, August 9, emergency services were alerted to a two-vehicle incident on the A28 Island Road, between Sarre and Upstreet, involving a grey Lexus and a double decker bus.

Along with Kent Fire and Rescue Service and South East Coast Ambulance Service, officers were on the scene.

There were eight documented cases of injury. One man in his 60s was airlifted to a hospital in London, where he is still in a bad condition, whilst seven were thought to not be serious. His family members are informed.

While the vehicle is being recovered, the road between Upstreet and Sarre is still closed.

It is recommended that anyone who saw the collision and hasn’t spoken to the police yet call 01622 798538, referencing reference XX/SS/087/24, to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit. Email sciu.td@kent.police.uk is another option.

Residents with private CCTV and drivers equipped with dashcams are also urged to search for pertinent material.
