According to a department news release, Topsham officers were called shortly after 7 a.m. to a report of a deceased individual discovered in a parking lot at 2 Main St., where machinery for building and replacing the Frank J. Wood Bridge is parked.

It was stated that a 20-year-old Californian woman’s body had been discovered. She was a student at Brunswick’s Bowdoin College, according to the police.

According to police, her body was taken to the Augusta Office of Chief Medical Examiner, where an autopsy has been performed and the findings are still waiting.

According to reports, the community is not in danger.

The academic schedule at Bowdoin states that students returned from Spring Break on March 25.

Qingyang Zhan, also known as K, a student, passed away last night off campus, according to a message written to the community on Sunday by Bowdoin College President Safa Zaki.
According to Zaki, Zhan moved to the United States in 2024 and enrolled at Bowdoin College in the autumn of 2024 following previous academic pursuits in California.

“Faculty members describe K as a bright and engaging presence, and many will remember her warmth and kindness,” Zaki wrote in her letter.

Staff members from student affairs and counselling will be available on Sunday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Bowdoin College’s Main Lounge in Moulton Union. This week’s expanded counselling hours and telehealth support are two ways that students are urged to get help.
